New Biomedical AI Certificate Launches at UGA

UGA will launch two new undergraduate certificates in artificial intelligence in Fall 2026, including a new
AI: Pharmaceutical Sciences certificate
offered in close collaboration between SMDA, the Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences (PBS) and the Institute for Artificial Intelligence(IAI). The PBS certificate is built on new biomedical AI coursework, including PMCY 4250/6250, developed through collaboration among Pharmacy, IAI, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The program strengthens the Precision One Health and Systems Modeling and Data Analytics mission by training students to use AI responsibly across drug discovery, laboratory studies, clinical data, patient care, and biomedical research. By connecting pharmaceutical sciences, veterinary medicine, and artificial intelligence, the certificate helps build the next generation of researchers prepared to work across human and animal health.
