Cushing’s Disease as a One Health Model

UGA researchers are using Cushing’s disease to show how a One Health approach can connect veterinary and human medicine. Because Cushing’s is rare in people but much more common in dogs, studies in canine patients may help identify better diagnostic and treatment strategies for both species.

The work highlights the Precision One Health mission of linking clinical insight, laboratory models, and translational research across UGA. By combining canine patient samples, organoid models, drug screening, and molecular analysis, the project also creates opportunities for the Systems Modeling and Data Analytics Core to help connect patient-level biology with therapeutic decision-making.
