The University of Georgia has appointed Prashant Doshi, professor in the School of Computing and a leading expert in artificial intelligence, as the inaugural executive director of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IAI). With over two decades of experience in AI research and innovation—including recent entrepreneurial work in AI-powered robotics—Doshi will lead the institute at a pivotal moment as UGA expands its interdisciplinary efforts in AI education, research, and application.
Under Doshi’s leadership, IAI will play a central role in uniting faculty from across campus to drive impactful, ethically informed AI initiatives. His appointment underscores UGA’s growing investment in emerging technologies and positions the university to shape the future of AI on both regional and national scales.
