Working in science today is alot like traveling between countries. Different fields have different languages, laws, and conventions which can make it very difficult to find what you need in one field and apply it to another.
Practically Science attempts to produce conceptual “road-maps” to the most common interfaces between scientific disciplines. Just like real maps, these graphical summaries are not meant to be comprehensive but help researchers navigate the ideas and literature of “foreign lands.”
Practically Science was started in 2012 by two Yale PhD candidates in the departments of Chemistry and Pharmacology. These “road-maps” were originally made to aid their own research and hobbies (e.g. cooking, running) but have since expanded based on requests from several of their colleagues.
